The SZRU Chairman Met with the “Living Legend” of the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Hryhoriy Rudenko

December 1, Chairman of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine Yehor Bozhok visited the outstanding intelligence officer Hryhoriy Rudenko and greeted him on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Foreign Intelligence.

”I express my sincere gratitude for the many years of your selfless work in the name of Ukraine’s prosperity”, said the Chairman of the Service. – Even in the well-deserved retirement after many years of work, you have not lost contact with former colleagues, and actively participated in the professional and patriotic education of the SZRU staff. The books and analytical articles you have written are widely used in the training of both, future intelligence officers and national diplomats”.

Hryhoriy Rudenko wished the Head of the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service stability in work and expressed hope that the Service would continue to develop steadily. Hryhoriy Matviyovych also gave the Chairman of the SZRU his latest handwritten history of the Foreign Intelligence for the book to be prepared for publication.
At the beginning of 2017, Hryhoriy Matviyovych Rudenko turned 92. During the Second World War, he served as a seaman apprentice on a destroyer, studied at the Sevastopol Naval School, volunteered to the Battalion of the Marine Corps, participated in battles in the Caucasus and against militaristic Japan. For courage and bravery he was decorated with an Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class and many medals.

At the end of the Second World War, Hryhoriy Rudenko returned to Ukraine and, after special training, for a number of years worked in the sphere of Foreign Intelligence, fulfilling important tasks abroad.

In parallel, Hryhoriy Rudenko graduated from the Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. Having retired from service, he worked until 2009 at the Office of the Diplomatic Corps in the posts of First Deputy Chief of the Department, Deputy Director General, and then Advisor. Hryhoriy Rudenko completely retired to a well-deserved rest at the age of 84, having more than 65 years of occupational life in his employment book.
