December 15, there was a meeting of members of the Foundation of Veterans and Officers of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine. During their traditional annual meeting, former officers and generals of the Intelligence discussed both the prospects for further development of the SZRU, and the issues of pensions and health care, as well as social protection of the members of the Foundation.
In his speech, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation, Lieutenant-General of reserve Leonid Rozhen stressed that today, when the activity of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine is being optimized, it is very important not only to preserve, but also to actively use the creative potential, best traditions and professional experience of veterans. He called on all former intelligence officers to assist the SZRU so that the Service could further reveal its potential in protecting national interests against external threats.
The meeting of the Foundation of Veterans and Officers of the Foreign Intelligence was attended by Chairman of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine Yehor Bozhok. Speaking to the veterans, he assured the participants of the meeting of the SZRU leadership’s support to the Foundation’s activities, and expressed hope that veterans would help in training and educating young employees of the Service.
“I am sure that young people can provide dynamism in the work, but they will not be able to achieve a proper result without the experience and knowledge that one gains only having lived a life, – said the head of the special service. – Therefore, I’m sure, and I really hope that we will be able to unite your experience, knowledge, skills and our young energy, dedication, and desire to achieve the result – in a single tandem, which will soon allow us to proudly prove that to be strong a state can’t do without the Foreign Intelligence Service. I really hope that we will reach this result together with you”.
Chairman of the SZRU Yehor Bozhok awarded the most active intelligence veterans, handing them memorable signs of the SZRU and encouraging decorations from the Foundation for the Support of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence. The Chairman of the SZRU also assured the veterans that the next year would be officially established a professional holiday of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine and called for proposals for choosing its date.
