September 2, 1945 saw the end of World War II. The deadliest military conflict, the most horrific crimes against humanity and the largest number of casualties.

For Ukraine, World War II also began in 1939 and turned into a real national tragedy, killing about 10 million Ukrainians - those killed on the battlefields, in concentration camps, from bombing, starvation or punitive actions.

More than seven million our compatriots fought in the ranks of the anti-Hitler coalition, making a huge contribution to the victory over Nazism. It was the Ukrainians who raised the victorious flags over Iwo Jima and the Reichstag and signed the Act of Surrender of Japan aboard the American battleship Missouri.

Eternal memory to the victims of the war and glory to its heroes!
