First deputy head of the rf president’s administration Sergei Kiriyenko is preparing replacement of the “president” of South Ossetia, Alan Gagloev, with whom he had a conflict after having been appointed curator of the quasi-republic.

The reason is that the new curator wants a larger share of the kickback than his predecessors, Surkov and Kozak had, for the siphoning off of russian funds allocated for the development of the region.

At the moment, police colonel general Sergei Bachurin, who heads the Interior Ministry’s Main Directorate for the North Caucasus Federal District, is being considered for the post of the head of the occupied territory.

The formal reason is a scheme to embezzle subsidies, in which Gagloev and the “head of government” Konstantin Dzhussoev were involved. Most of the money that was supposed to be spent on infrastructure ended up in the pockets of the local elite.
