The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine presents the collection “Ukrainian Emigration of the 1940s-1970s in archival documents of soviet special services”, prepared by the Branch State Archive of the FISU.

The activities of soviet repressive bodies have not yet been  studied deeply enough. For a long time, this topic was closed, and the archives of the cheka/gpu/nkvd/mgb/kgb of the ussr were not accessible to scholars, journalists, or anyone interested in the history of Ukraine.

As a result of the review, declassification, and study of archival files, this thematic publication includes selected materials that testify to the purposeful work of the cheka/gpu/nkvd/mgb/kgb to monitor Ukrainian emigrants, politicians, scientists, and cultural figures, their relatives and friends abroad, collect information about their places of residence, movements, plan and conduct special operations to compromise them.

For the first time, the collection introduces into scientific circulation the archival documents of great interest that help to open new pages of Ukraine’s history. This publication includes mostly individual documents, reports, and memos of the soviet intelligence.

A total of 143 documents are published in chronological order. Each document has a title and relevant search information, which includes the number of the fund, case, volume, and paper of the Branch State Archive of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.
