During the Red Storm Bravo exercise, the Bundeswehr will simulate a large-scale military escalation in Europe, in particular, russia’s attack on Germany’s allies. The exercise will be held on September 25-27 in Hamburg.

The event will involve hundreds of soldiers, heavy equipment, helicopters, and mobile hospitals. The task is to test Germany’s ability as NATO’'s “rear zone” to quickly redeploy troops to the eastern flank in case of an escalation of the situation.

Under this scenario, up to 800,000 NATO troops are planned to be redeployed via German territory to the Baltic countries and Poland. The focus is on the effectiveness of using Hamburg’s infrastructure, in particular its seaport, to provide logistics for rapid response forces.

The exercise will include simulating real-life crisis situations: moving military convoys through the city, medical evacuation, working with local authorities, and responding to potential riots.

The Bundeswehr’s large-scale exercise is Germany’s response to the growing military and hybrid threats from russia. This demonstrates Germany’s readiness to mobilize resources quickly and play a leading role as a NATO member.
