The kremlin plans to speed up the indexation of gas prices for industry – by 10 % twice a year. The aim of this step is to at least partially compensate for gazprom’s expected losses due to the decrease in exports to Europe. The company predicts a $190 billion decline in revenues by 2035. The current gas price for industrial consumers in the rf is $83 for one thousand cubic meters. According to the government’s current plan, the increase in tariffs for 2025-2028 was supposed to be gradual: 10.3 % in 2025, 10.6 % in 2026, 9 % in 2027 and 7 % in 2028.

In addition to industry, the increase in tariffs will also affect the population. The total increase in 2025-2028 will reach 42.2 %, but, taking into account changes since the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine – about 76 %.

Due to the limited export routes, the domestic market is becoming strategically important for gazprom. At the same time, the company has no autonomy in pricing – tariffs are approved by the government and the antimonopoly service.

Raising gas prices will increase inflation and production costs and reduce the competitiveness of products, which will only deepen the structural problems of the russian economy.
