Ukraine and the United States have completed all necessary procedures to launch the USA- Ukraine Reconstruction Fund.

“The G7 remains committed to unwavering support for Ukraine in the defense of its territorial integrity and right to exist, as well as its freedom, sovereignty and independence on the path to a just and lasting peace. We reaffirm that, in accordance with our legal systems, russia’s sovereign assets in our jurisdictions will remain frozen until russia stops its aggression and compensates Ukraine for the damage it has caused,” the G7 Ministers of Finance and Governers of Central Banks said in a joint communiqué.

US Senate Majority Leader John Thune has said that Senators are ready to toughen sanctions against russia if it does not make a “serious proposal for an immediate ceasefire” in Ukraine.

The European Commission will hold closed consultations with EU member states on further anti-russian sanctions.

The Government of Lithuania has decided to stop recognizing non-biometric passports issued by russia as valid travel documents for entry into Lithuania.

Minister of the Environment and Energy Security of Italy Pichetto Fratin has assured that his country fully supports the EU’s efforts to stop importing russian gas by 2027.

Moldova is denouncing  the agreement with the rf on the establishment and operation of cultural centers. The country currently does not have a cultural center in the rf. Accordingly, there is no fair mechanism for promoting information about Moldova, and this undermines the balance and the original aim of the agreement.

The rf’s largest exporters, including “rusal”, “nlmk”, and “gazpromneft”, are cutting back on transportation plans by russian railways  under the influence of the high key rate and sanctions. Since the end of last year, the “rzd” (“russian railways” – russian fully state-owned vertically integrated railway company – Transl.), which derives most of its revenue from cargo transportation, has been experiencing an unprecedented decline in cargo volumes. In 2024, the volume of traffic fell to a 15-year low and continued to decline this year: in January-April, transportation of all types of cargo fell by 6.8 % to 370.6 million tons, and in April the decline accelerated to 8.6 %.

Due to Western sanctions, russia’s largest shipping company, “sovcomflot” has  announced a complete loss of revenue: in the first quarter, the company posted a loss of $393 million against a profit of $216 million a year earlier. As a result, the losses even exceeded the revenue – $278.5 million (down  by 48 %).

“The harvest is over”.  The rf’s  ministry of agriculture has  announced that russians have eaten all the vegetables grown in the country.

The ministry of justice of the rf  has included the association “Współnota Polska” in the register of “undesirable organizations”. It is a non-governmental organization dedicated to strengthening the Polish diaspora’s ties  with its historic homeland.

Poland has also begun constructing  electronic barriers on the water areas of its borders. The barriers are being installed along the River Bug, which forms the border with belarus for a long stretch.

The liabilities (loans, credits, supplies, salaries and taxes) of organizations operating in belarus amounted to RUB 282 billion 471.58 million at the end of 2024, which is  by 73.6 % more than in 2019.

At least 135 people have been convicted in the rb since 2020 for donations to organizations banned by the regime.

According to the deputy head of the pro-government belarusian republican pioneer organization, 86 % of the total number of schoolchildren who are of the right age have joined the association. This figure is constantly growing. Soon, all belarusian children will  have  to join the pioneer organization, just like in the USSR.
