Lev Rebet, Ukrainian politician, political writer, researcher of the history and theory of the Ukrainian nation, one of the leaders of the OUN.

From the comment on Professor Lev Rebet's report “The Origin of Ukrainians, russians and belarusians in the Light of Modern Soviet Theories” at the scientific conference themed “National Policy of the USSR from the Beginning of the Second World War to the Present” (1955): “Based on the Soviet sources, Prof. Rebet managed to make a detailed and in-depth analysis of modern Soviet theories about the origin of Ukrainians, russians and belarusians, which very often, contrary to the studies and materials of soviet scientists, are subordinated to the requirements of soviet policy. The current trend of soviet science is aimed at showing not only the common origin of these three peoples, but also at shifting the formation of the Ukrainian and belarusian peoples to later centuries. Contrary to this, and often on the basis of soviet sources, it can be proven that the development of these peoples took place in different ways, especially if we take into consideration that the formation of the Ukrainian nation began in the 6th century and reached its first completion in the Kyiv state in the 9th century” (BSA of the SZRU. - F. 1. – Case 10488. – V. 1. – P. 129–130).
