The European Commission has proposed to freeze the obligation to pay Hungary almost € 7.5 billion from the budget of the European Union (in total 65 % under three programs within the framework of the EU Balanced Development Fund), – said EU Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn. This decision is made by the EU for the first time in history, a formal reason being violation of the rule of law and insufficient efforts to fight corruption. Experts say a different thing: Hungary abandons European values, opposes the European consolidated policy and has taken a frankly pro -russian position.
Earlier, most European Parliament members supported the conclusions that Hungary is not a country with developed democracy. European politicians have repeatedly accused Hungary's Prime Minister Orban of dismantling democratic institutions in the country, media pressure and persecution of national minorities.
