The rf Conducts Active Intelligence and Subversive Activities in the Countries of the European Union
4/11/2025

Today, majority of European countries have faced acts of sabotage, subversion, espionage and disinformation – the result of activity of russian secret services. Intensified activity of special services of the rf is recorded against Baltic countries. For example, in the Republic of Latvia alone, recently five citizens of russia committed a number of crimes with a clear aim to destabilize the situation in the country.
In March 2025, a 34-year-old citizen of the rf with a temporary residence permit was detained and arrested for transportation of illegal migrants across the state border. Also were stopped the attempts of the 41-year-old citizen of the rf to organize taking photos of facilities with limited access in Daugavpils.
Last month the City Court of Riga sentenced to imprisonment three people who committed arson of the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia. Diversionists Konstantin Engels, Vitaly Lukyanovich and Valentin Razmerits had criminal past. For monetary reward they set fire to that particular building which symbolizes the struggle of Latvians for independence against the totalitarian regime of the ussr – the descendant of which is the rf.
A little earlier a citizen of russia – head of the Latvian-russian cooperation association Boris Katkov – was expelled from Latvia.
A former military serviceman for more than 25 years had served on the territory of the Latvian soviet socialist republic. After the ussr collapsed in 1991, he retired from the armed forces and got actively involved in political activity in favor of the rf, for which in 2000 he was granted russian citizenship. The association he headed, systemically worked for state and political organizations of russia, for the pro-putin “united russia” included.
A Latvian court has sentenced to eight years in prison another russian “spy can” (undercover agent – Transl.), a former soviet military, who in 1991 remained to live in the country. Having received russian citizenship, he felt confident and directly resorted to espionage for the rf – collecting information on critical infrastructure and military facilities around Riga airport, monitoring the territory of the unit of the National Guard of Latvia. During trips to kaliningrad, he handed the collected information to russian intelligence service.
